HEY!!!! Why is there two spellings for Bunmahon/Bonmahon????
The Copper Coast is a region in the in the county of Waterford. The name Copper Coast is derived from the copper mining industry which began in the mid-19th century.
The area has a long history, dating back to the Neolithic period when the earliest settlements were established. The area was also an important centre for the Early Christian Church and monasticism, with many of the sites still standing today.
By the 19th century, the region was a major centre for copper mining, with several mines operating along the coast.
The industry had a major economic impact on the region, but declined at the start of the 20th century, leading to a decline in the local economy.
Despite this, the area is still known for its beautiful coastline and rich heritage, making it a popular tourist destination.
